"Life is a Spiritual Struggle"

This is very true for teachers. Everyday is a struggle for teachers especially when it comes to teaching "at risk" children. Teachers must find different ways to teach these children so they do not fall more behind then they already are. When I was observing in a inner city school with many at risk children there was one little boy that helped me better understand why I want to be a teacher. This one little boy was struggling on his school work and the teacher would just over look him thinking he was not trying hard enough and he was just trying to skip out on doing the work. So I went over to the little boy and was trying to help him catch up because the teacher was not going to help him. He then told me "no don't worry about helping me Miss Race I am too stupid I will never be good at anything." This little boy was a first grader and was saying this which made me feel so bad for this little boy. I continued to help him for the remainder of my time at the school and he gave me a huge hug at the end of the week and told me thank you. When I go to my classes to become a teacher he keeps me going everyday because I want to help little kids like him.

"Admittance to a Better Life"

This is an inspiring story about a man that was at the bottom and worked his way up to the top. This is rare to see but you do see people that go from living on the streets to living in great homes with a successful career. Since this is so rare to see people find this inspiring and some people even make books describing their life struggles. I think it is time for a change and to better the schools where there are a majority of at risk children. We need better teachers with better salaries, better books and more tax dollars going to schools that have low test scores. There needs to be a change so every American can benefit from the schools

"This I Believe"

Is being book smart better then common sense? In this day and age I feel people including employees are looking for more book smart then common sense. This is why more people are going to college and getting higher educations so they can go out and find a job after graduating college. People like nona never got a formal education but she was still be able to make something of herself and start a family. Though maybe it wasn't as good of a life financially she was still happy and people still respected her. She was a wise old lady and she didn't get this from going to school but through experiences. This changes my views on being educated because you may not go any further then 8th grade and as long as you strive for high goals you can still be educated without going to high school or even college.
